While the TD is zero in the total water flow, it is not unusual to have high water temperatures in one or more tubing rows within the boiler to groan. The hotter water mixes again in the general stream so isn't detected. That tube's water temperature is close enough to boiling to groan. Raising the pressure raises the boiling point out of the range .
