That's the gotcha of flushing a system with fresh water. Fresh water has 5% of whatever water you put in the system as part of the water. It is best to do so with deoxygenated (distilled water.)

If you don't add water with oxygen, then after a while it will disappear out the air vent.

What is harder to understand is how the exchanger is built to have a trap where air can settle.
