There are code issues in fastening the single wall to double-wall, unless it is a factory-approved connection. It is simpler to use the existing single-wall with an extension piece to extend outside the wall and use an elbow pointing down. Make or get a shielded termination box to mount a space away from the exterior wall. Make a hole on all sides of the single-wall so there is Side: 8"
Top: 12"
Bottom: 4"
of clearance of the pipe to any studs and interior/exterior surfaces. The hole can be covered with galvanized sheet inside and out, just as vertical chimneys would be spaced away from combustibles. Metal stud base could be used to cover all sides of the hole before enclosing the hole with sheet.
