Let everything cool, crank the thermostat way up, time the boiler. Time it to off/on/off, watch and listen and get back to us. There is a big "hole" in the venting, time how long heat dumps out of that. If it is staying on, the heat is going somewhere. If it shutting off often, I'd first look at a sooted up heat exchanger or plugged chimney. How many square feet is house, insulated, tight, lot of glass, It could be one or more of many things.
