Hi thank you for getting back to us,winter is coming and our heat bills are going to be crazy...We have gas, and no insulation, can't afford that either,we have the old wood/storm windows that are original to the house, after putting those up, I plastic over the window and hang my heavy winter drapes, that seems to help as far as the windows goes, we have lots of oversized windows, . the basement and attic are not heated, and the damn attic has a 1-2 inch gap along the entire thing, ventilation I suppose, the attic is so cold in the winter we only go up to bring down the xmas stuff...you can see your breath !! Someone told us to duct tape the gap....not possible. the basement is also unheated but bareable, to wash clothes and such. The square footage is 2064 of living space and 1032 in the attic and 1032 in the basement, The house is all brick, we will wait to hear your reply before trying your suggestiions, like I said we are VERY un-handy !! But are willing to learn as we have to keep on our budget...we are a family of 6, who went from a two income family of 4 to a one income family of 6 !! [Had to quit job after last two children],so our budget is about as tight as it gets !!any info WOULD BE USED GRATEFULLY !! Thanks again, Micki....ps.. we have 11 foot ceilings also.
