A lot of noise in hot water systems is due to air. It causes the flow to be more turbulent. Make sure your system has a good air separator that is working. If you have a modern, bladder type expansion tank, you should have a float type air vent. Press on the shraeder (tire)valve and make sure you get just water. Baseboard casings can be noisy (esp. lower grades), press on parts of it to see if it helps (don't dent it). It should be mounted securly. Sometimes the tubing rubs in the brackets making popping noises when it heats and cools.
