Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have free standing cast iron radiators, if this helps. The sound I am hearing is a constant high pitched whistling, or 'singing'; which, from what I've been able to find on the web, may be caused by high speed flow around an elbow, or by having pipes that are too narrow for the flow rate. Is it possible for air in the system to cause this sort of noise too? I've checked that bleed valves on all radiators, there's no air in them. I will check the expansion tank today.

Is it safe for me to significantly restrict the flow of water in the send/receive lines? As I posted previously, if I close their valves about half way, the noise stops. I've been thinking that if I slow the flow a bit, the noise goes away, and perhaps it won't be too hard to balance the temperature in the house again.

Thanks,

Dave
