Manual modulation of oversized old boiler?

Just moved into a 1970's home with hot water slant-fin radiators. The heat works wonderfully. But it seems to me that the original "National 100 Series Gas Boiler" short cycles too much, is probably oversized, therefore is even less efficient than it could be.

I notice the nameplate says Normal Operations = 150,000 btu, Minimum = 75,000 btu. Is there a way that you could manually control how many banks of the burner is functioning to extend the cycle time?

Someday we'll invest in a mod/con boiler but we blew all the $ on the downpayment! Any advice appreciated.
