: STOP!!!! never block off or eliminate burners in a cast iron boiler. The ratio of heat input to fireside heating surface gets all out of wack. The sections expand and contract at different rates. The boiler will fail. By code you can only reduce by up to 20%.
: To reduce you mist resize the orifices.
Thanks for the advice rbeck. What I have done so far is to lower the aquastat (from lower limit 180 to 150) and dial down the 1/2 psi gas valve. I think I may stop there. I understand adjusting the gas is not optimal. Just trying to reduce short cycling and costs till I can get a new unit.
Anyone think it's worth while to put split wrap on all the distribution copper in the crawl space?
