gurgling pipes

I have gurgling pipes on the return side (near the boiler) of my gas/hot water heating system. I have bled the system, and the system makes heat OK. It also has a spirovent air eliminator. I just can't get rid of the noises. How do I get rid of trapped air? What else causes noise besides air? At night it can be heard throughout the house.
