: Boiler systems set up with the circulator(s) pumping into the boiler return with the expansion tank on the boiler or supply line are more or less subject to this problem, depending upon the system, and circulator wear. The Spirovent might have been added to prevent some of the problem. Unfortunately, the noises can persist until relocating components.

: Some of the explanation can help at:

: A cure can be by relocating components to produce:

: Compare the way your system is piped to:

: The concept is called "Pumping Away."

The boiler is a Weil Mclain GV4 with a new Taco 0010 circulator on the return side (in the boiler). The spirovent and extrol 30 tank is on the supply side. The system loop is a monoflow tee type. The noise is just as bad when it is running through the much shorter indirect water heater loop. The noise seems to be most from the return pipes near the zone valves.

Thanks for the input.
Eric.
