Banging was probably not air but delayed ignition. If the reset you pushed was on the burner's primary control. It may be the problem that destroyed your combustion chamber or was created when that work was done. Readers should look hard at chambers that someone has said has deteriorated. If there is a lot of snowy-white surface at the breaks, it may have been smashed in order to sell a new one. One that fell apart a while before will get dirty. Your nozzle or filter may be plugged, air or nozzle settings off etc. The waterside should have little effect on the fireside unless it was a high temperature limit etc that caused the stoppage. The well presssure is reduced to the 15-20psi on your boiler gage by the auto fill based on the spring pushing on it. The screw moves the spring in and out to set.
