Loud sound at ignition in Weil McLain Ultra

Our Weil McLain Ultra (natural gas, 4.5 years old) boiler recently started making a loud sound at ignition. It's a loud, but low sound - it actually sounds like it's coming from outside where the exhaust plate is located; we thought it was a neighbors trunk slamming, but we could feel it when in the room above the boiler.

It is intermittent, doesn't always do it. It seems more prone in the evenings, when it running at its warmest and cycling. No error codes, no troubles maintaining heat.

Technician took a look at it, checked the flame sensor/ignitor and heat exchanger and couldn't find anything wrong. Of course, it wouldn't make the sound when he was here (during the day).

Any ideas? Thanks for your help,

Dave
