Actually, in our scenario, what is happening is that the only thing calling for heat is the Ergomax as it has dropped down on its own without any circulation to any emitters. All other zones (heating as well as Phase III are off).

Since the Heat Manager is looking for a steep drop in water temp before allowing the boiler to fire (more than 1 zone calling for heat), the pump continues to circulate water between the Ergomax and boiler without any firing of the boiler. (as the only "zone calling for heat is the Ergomax). By the way, we still have not piped DHW through Ergomax. We have Phase III as separate zone presently.

The problem I see is that we are using electricity by continually cycling water between Ergomax and boiler as well as losing heat in that water as it circulates without any firing of the boiler. That is, until either a heating zone calls for heat, or the Ergomax temp drifts low wenough to cause the Heat Manager to allow the boiler to fire.
