It really doesn't matter how old it is (it is over 50 years old,) as long as it holds water. The efficiency can be found through the use of combustion test instruments. I might not make it through the winter either; but that doesn't mean my wife has to get a new one right away.

Yes, you will get better efficiency by getting a new one.
