I'm not sure all this is necessary, but thlis is what my hot-water boiler system has, starting from the city water supply:

1. Watts #9 backflow preventer.

2. Bell & Gossett pressure regulating valve, set at 12 psi.

3. B&G relief valve, set at 30 psi.

4. The boiler.

5. Watts relief valve, set at 30 psi (Btu rated).

(Nos. 2 and 3 are part of a combined set.)
