I have to upgrade my old gas boiler with a new one. I asked my plumber about a condensing boiler. He said to stay away from them that they generate acidic condensate that will rot away my foundation wall. He said that I am the guinea pig for these new boilers and that I should go for a non-condensing 88% efficient boiler. He said that the new condensing boilers will be harder to service also, and to save just a few percent for efficiency is not worth the additional cost of the boiler and the problems that come with it, like the rotting of my foundation wall by acid waste. This guy seems pretty knowledgable about other stuff, but I wonder if he knows what he is talking about. Any comments would be greated appreciated.
