I recently (last Fall) replaced my old gas-fired CI boiler with a wall-mounted mod/con and IDWH and I have realized an average of 45% fuel savings after adjusting for heating degree days. Your results may differ as your distribution and emitter configuration may vary from mine (diverter tee and CI rads), but even more important is the installation. Whichever option you choose, ensure that the contractor has the requisite experience with the installation and equipment you choose. Plumbers are not necessarily heating pros. Check references and be sure to get a heat loss calculation done.
