I am installing a secondary source of heat for my house-an outdoor wood furnace and radiant floor heating. my existing system is steam with cast iron radiators.
My question is, is it possible to use the outdoor wood furnace to preheat my steam boiler to say a 180 degrees using a plate heat exchanger? The reason I ask is because my steam heat ate me alive last year and I am not going to have all of my hydronics in place before the heating season starts. Seams none of the local HVAC people have a clue.
