Baseboards vs. Radiators

We are in the process of renovating our house and also adding a small addition. We have a gas-fired boiler (new last year) that is currently heating old cast-iron hot-water radiators.

We are looking to replace the radiators as they are very large, the heat is not very controllable (mainly due to the radiator sizes not being balanced to the rooms), and it'll be expensive to find matching ones for the addition.

Our plumber is recommending baseboard heaters but I am not keen on these because of the furniture issues and want to look at more modern radiators.

Does anyone have any suggestions for new slimline radiator brands?

Also, apart from the things I've mentioned are there any other things to consider in the basedboard vs. radiator choice? Are the costs (running, installation) comparable for instance?

Many Thanks
Glenn
