You are saying that the boiler goes to 5 psig right away and has to be reset to get the burner going, which means your pressure safety device is not functioning properly. Also, your boiler is steaming very quickly, which can mean the fire has gotten significantly larger from regulator failure or wear.

SHUT IT OFF NOW AND CALL A REPAIRMAN NOW!!!!

Your boiler has done what any homeowner could demand of it, that is, never to be safety tested or adjusted every year during a service procedure.
