I should have said rarely does the steam puff out, only on the coldest days when the burner fires longer to reach temp does steam puff out. If I leave the vents on the far rads, they only get warm so I take the vents off when I'm home so they can heat up completely. I have a feeling you are right about the partial blockage because the house was a rental for years before I bought it and no one took care of the system and when I replaced the boiler last summer there was a ton of sludge in the boiler and returns and not knowing anything I didn't have the plumber clean the system or put in main vents or wet return drains. It has taken me months to get the system clean but I think there probably is crud in the the horizontal runouts from the radiator risers. How can I clean those out? One of the rads is under the kitchen sink and in the wall so I don't think I can even disconnect that one. Thanks for your help I appreciate it.
