PRV leaking...

Recently had a Burnham V73 replaced as it cracked between the cleanouts after 5 years. Anyone had this ?
The V73 control kept a constant boiler temp. I had it replaced with a V83 with a control allowing it to cool down between cycles. I can't get the pressure stable in the boiler so the PRV doesn't dump. I want it to operate at about 10 psi ( single story house with full basement - boiler in the basement). Now that I am heating up the volume, is the expansion tank (sized for the constant temp V73) too small ? If I drop pressure in the boiler to 1 psi, the leak stops and the house heats, but I am afraid I may fire up an empty
boiler eventually. Help ! and thanks !
