We have a second home in Rhode Island, 100 years old, with a 40 year old oil furnace supplying baseboard hot water heat and indirect heated hot water. We are planning to update - a Riello burner and a Burnham V83 boiler. Our water is from a community well, so we have adequate but not great water pressure. We are there 4days/week in the summer, and most weekends throughout the year.
Would you recommend adding an Alliance indirect water heater?
Is it energy efficient to turn off the whole system when we leave Sunday night then restart on Thursdays (summers, when the house does noot need heat) or is it bad for the system?
I checked a website which rated energy efficiency of boilers, and they were grouped by BTU's How do I determine how many BTU's I need?
