If it was mine, I'd look hard at throwing up an insulated boilerroom with combustion air ducted onto a burner that accepts such. Then I would have a switch set up for leaving with the hot water and bedroom (etc) zones off and the space temp where there is food, water, refrigerators etc running at 45F or so. The insulation would even out the temp swings besides saving energy. And it would keep the water tank warmer, though off. The water pressure will push water through the indirect as easily as any other tank, and easier than a "limed-up" coil in a blr.
