I pose some questions:
1. Do you want your radiation to hold the heat that the boiler sends to them, or send the heat to the room immediately?
2. Will you get more heat if the readiators keep it inside, or will you get the same amount of heat that is sent to them?
By answering these questions, it is possible to see the difference between a sales tool for cast iron and a practical answer. In addition, you can purchase baseboard in cast iron to hold the same heat that a standing radiator does.
With proper controls, it is possible to control either type of radiation to give continuous comfort. Copper-tube or cast-iron baseboard radiation covers more of the exterior wall than standing radiation and the space standing radiation takes up is freed for furniture when using baseboard. These are reasons baseboard has been specified for modern homes and standing radiators are hard to find today.
