Creating antagonism is not the best solution. Discuss with them the great site you found here where you could get advice from tradesmen who taught the trade throughout the country, New York and New Jersey over the past 30 years. Tell them the URL and see if they are still interested in learning and improving. If they are annoyed at that - say goodbye for good.
