I have a Weil Mclain gas boiler.

Model: CG-6
Year: 1987
Series: 9
BTU: 175,000
Water, MBH 124

Here the problem. The pressure is not consistent. Every once in while it shoots up
Past 30 psi and the pressure relief valve blows. I have tried turning off the in coming
City water but then the pressure drops after a week or so. I have turned down the
Water temp on the heater to 150 degrease. The flame shut off at 140 degrease. So
That mechanism seems to be off by 10 degrease. Could that unit be bad? I saw
Someone else on this message board had a similar problem and it was suggested
that he check the expansion tank. My expansion tank does not have an air valve.
It only has a water pipe going in and a water spickit to drain water out. Also what
should the water temp be set at? Any help is appreciated.

Thank Sam Watson
