For what it's worth, I recently installed a Honeywell digital thermostat (seven days, 4 programs, etc. etc.) in my house. I've got a Burnham Independance on hot water.

In my personal opinion, the results were DRAMATIC. As long as your setback times are AT LEAST four hours, than each degree of temperature that you "setback" can be equated to about 1% of your energy bill. In my house, we turned the overnight and daytime setback (weekdays only) about 7 degrees lower than wake-up and evening. Our therm usage was about 15% lower than last year.

Since gas prices are higher, we came out even.

One more thing... our old thermostat was probably designed in 1723 by Paul Revere. It was so out-of-calibration that our new Honeywell model probably saves us money because of it's temperature sensing alone.

Honestly, I've been recommending these things to everybody I know.

Good luck!

Daniel
