Not knowing about something is hardly a reference point.

Hard water contains calcium and magnesium which counters acidity over time and isn't a problem after the small amount of the one-time fill precipitates out on surfaces of a Buderus. Large amounts of solids can be abrasive. Softened water can have small amounts of salts, depending upon the method of softening, so untreated water might or might not be as good or better, depending on the water quality. You might be interested to get a water analysis before using it.

If there is concern, it is possible to fill with distilled water from the supermarket.

Unless Buderus specifies a chemical for the water, don't add one.
