I installed a Tekmar 253 last fall and it was a very easy DIY job. I did it on an older Weil Mclean 300K btu boiler that was an on / off unit .. it was either 190deg or it was off. I have been watching it all winter right from -40c days right up to when it shuts itself down @ 10 deg C and its been AMAZING in how it works. even on the coldest days it rarely hit 180 ... and then on warmer days it was in the 130 - 140 range. I bought mine from ebay and had to buy a 24v transformer for it. This is the person that I got it from ( http://cgi.ebay.ca/Tekmar-356-Mixing-Boiler-Control-with-outdoor-reset_W0QQitemZ110135881759QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0 ).. I see he doesnt have the 253's listed but i see he has 356's for $274. I do beleive this unit has more than paid for itself in the time that Ive had it installed. This unit DOES come with an outside temp module. It also does something REALLY cool that it looks at the temp of the wter and remembers how long it took to heat a room and then tries to use the heat it has stored instead of firing the boiler!

I hope this helps

: I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about an outdoor reset (Weather Responsive Control) for my Ultra Oil 3? I have heard that adding one to a boiler can make a difference in the efficiency of a boiler, however, I don't know much about them. I got a price to install a Tekmar 256 today, $756.00, but don't know if it is worth the money to have it installed. Also, I've been told that they are pretty simple to install yourself, any thoughts on that?
