The pitfalls are that putting 1 to 4 psig steam systems to 25 psig water systems makes the pits create waterfalls and sprinklers.

Other than that, the conversion is fairly simple with a 2-pipe system. Plugging vent holes, removing traps, adding circulators, collecting sludge. Take care to observe good supports as the weight of the system increases with all the water.

Don't try to make the system work off a thermostat, as it takes hours for all that to heat and cool. Use an outdoor reset to set the boiler temperature with constant circulation; it shouldn't take a large circulator as it is very much a gravity system already.
