If your boiler has a vent damper and it sits inside the shop, then there isn't any real loss, as the heat from the boiler goes into the shop. It is a choice of keeping a low/limit circulator control to keep the boiler above 150F to prevent condensation or cold start it to 180F. Either is a bad situation for a cast iron boiler; but it will last the season.
