Aquastat - Can they fail?

I have a =Burham Spirit propane boiler. My house has four zones that are controlled by Honeywell V8043E1012 aquastats (at least I think these would be called aquastats). Recently I installed an outdoor wood stove and connected the two sytems together via a plate heat exchanger. Since it is finally getting cold I noticed that two of my zones do not seem to work correctly. One zone has a Lux TX500b programmable thermostat and the other zone has a simple dial thermostat from Honeywell. My other two zone are controlled by Honeywell CT3200A1001 programmable thermostat. Just wonder if either the thermostat or could the aquastat be malfunctioning? I can manually open the values and they seem to work.
