Red Flash boiler problem -- leaks sometimes

After recently changing the pressure/temp gauge & refilling/bleeding the radiator lines I had a leak in the top left front corner INSIDE the unit. An ounce or two would pool on the ledge of the upper section, sometimes a drip could be whitnessed. Then today when I checked their was no water and no drip. My theory is that there is a hole in the system that was maybe jammed by sediment. This opened up and started leaking when I drained the system to replace the gauge and has now re-clogged two weeks after replacing the guage. Is there any fix for an internal leak in an old red flash number one boiler or is the unit shot? And is it possible that sediment is plugging a small hole in the lines -- if so is it safe to operate?
