I've done many building heat assistances with solar panels during the 1970-80's energy concerns. You need many square feet of solar panel and get into building structure and maintenance issues that can be avoided by having extra land to use the panels as a solar fence. Looking at 50 btuh per square foot during the day, 50,000 btuh requires 1000 square feet of panels. Otherwise, having the space and money to install them with a 2000 gallon insulated tank, a solar installation can put a long-term dent in energy costs.
