Months ago I found this site, unfortunately after we had already committed to a system, paid for it, and it was in the process of being installed. I wish I had researched sooner as we could have saved quite a bit of money and had less problems. From researching online I have noticed that all of the quotes we received here were high compared to what it appears people pay in other parts of the country. From two different companies we got quotes of $12K for removal of our old boiler and plumbing in a boiler similar to the one we have now, with no other piping changed or modified, nor any zones created, just removal and installation. All of the companies from which we got quotes performed the heat loss estimate by counting radiator sections and asking about sq footage of the house. The company we chose charged $6500 for the CGa-6 and installation, and another $3100 for the Gold PLUS 40 and installation. No other piping was changed out. Compared to paying $12k for a cast iron boiler these prices seemed more in line although still rather expensive considering no other work was done. Now we are getting close to wishing we had installed a heat pump system. :-(

Thanks for you help. I'm sorry this is so long but I wanted to give you as much information as possible.
