Well,

The serviceguy from the gas co came on Friday and replaced the circuitboard as well as the air pressure switch. He also cleaned and reinstalled the burner tubes. (Thank God for service contracts.)

The boiler ran fine all weekend and Monday morning. However, yesterday afternoon, I noticed it was off again. I called Lochinvar tech support and we found that the flow switch in the main boiler to Ergomax loop was not closing. This has happened before. (last November).

I put a jumper across the terminals, and everything is working well.

I know this is not a low flow state as the delta T across the heat exchanger is 15-20 max with both burners on.

We have a Taco 0010 pump in the main loop with 2" copper pipe between the boiler and Ergomax (probably about 30 feet of pipe). The flow switch is used in case the main circulator stops running. We also have a high temp cutoff in the heat exchanger.

My question is....is there a different switch that would work better in our situation without resizing pipes? There is a tee into which it is screwed which is a 2" x 2" x 1" tee. It is in a straight run of pipe > 5 pipe diameters before and after switch.

I think the switch is losing sensitivity and we get these nuisance lockouts.

Thanks.

Dave
