Watch for any other leaks in the entire system. Water leaks out, so the fill valve allows new water to come in. When new water comes it, it brings air with it. Water and air in a boiler system can rust the expansion tank and cause the bladder to fail. This is one of many reasons we use air separators.

Expansion tanks should last many years with only routine maintenance.
