Gotta Peerless furnace(1991) Boiler No 85 245 WPC HD
Had the last silicon carbide hot surface igniter White Rodgers 767A-372 last 1 year. The previous one lasted 3.
Thought a Glo-Stix (IgnitersDirect) HSIURK12V igniter kit, guaranteed for 3 years would be a great idea.
Bought it from a distributor of major appliance parts (same as the silicon carbide.
It's silicon nitride. You can touch the unit when you're installing it. It's impervious to dust (and hopefully magnesium cloride used for dust mitigation by the city) from the dirt road. Wouldn't you expect it to last around 3 years? It lasted 2-1/2 months! Ack!
Anyone heard about any problems with Glo-Stix?
Could the Honeywell S8910U hot surface igniter controller be doing this?
Did I just get one with a manufacturing defect?
Should I collect on the warranty and try another one?
Thank you, David Bruner
