I just had a Utica oil boiler, SFH series installed in my house. When the boiler fires, it sounds as though there is an explosions in my basement. So much so that I can feel the concussion on the second floor of my house.
The plumber that put it in says that 'that is how they fire' and that the derating kit, which he hasn't installed yet, should make it more quite. What is a derating kit and are these boilers known for being loud. Thanks.
