DIY's looking to adapt old HVAC equipment went wrong about a quarter-century ago, when legal liability put all the blame on you whenever you become the system designer. If you want insurance and inspection approvals, you use factory equipment installed using the factory installation and operation manual.
You are asking that people become involved in your invention to use old equipment with no warrantees or fitness for use. It is all custom design.
