One contractor is missing a potential sale; because Buderus, as with any European manufacturer who wants to survive, as does Weil and others, have condensing boilers available.

A question to ask is if 3000 dollars more for a condensing boiler will be paid back in 10 years by savings of 10% through more efficiency. Do you spend $3000 a year in fuel to save $300 a year?

The Utica cast-iron boiler is as good as any of the same kind. The Utica marketing manager has been asleep with Rip for a long time in making this ad, as they are proudly demonstrating words made a quarter-century ago:
"The MGB Series boiler features an advanced heat exchanger design that utilizes atmospheric burners allowing it to be vented vertically through a chimney. This heat exchanger design combined with quality components such as a flue damper and electronic ignition helps the MGB achieve fuel efficiencies up to 84.1%, making it an ideal choice for new or existing homes."
