crimp or compression for h.w. pex

I am replacing 1 pipe steam with hot water piping. Upon advice of Heatpro, I am using 1/2" piping for my branch supply and return piping. Although copper is better, for personal reasons I must use pex. A plumber friend of mine recommends compression. I have used compression for my 3/8" bathroom sink water lines, and find out if there is enough movement, there may be a leak with compression. I am alittle wary of using compression for hot water system pex. I know nothing about crimping a joint. Any insight into either compression or crimp for pex joints would be very helpful. Thanks.
