It isn't better than copper. The Al(uminum) foil inside the plastic is a good vapor barrier, but it doesn't make it better than copper. Other pex is made with paint on the surface as a barrier to keep oxygen out of the system that rusts iron parts. Pex will require twice as many supports as copper as the plastic softens as the water becomes hotter.
