circulating pump running constantly

I have an older Hydrotherm boiler with a brand new circulator pump (correct term?). In the winter, the pump ran frequently even when the boiler wasn't running. I understand that that is normal. However, the boiler hasn't kicked on in a couple of weeks with the warm weather, and that pump is runnning constantly. Even when I turn the heating system off via the thermostat. Is this normal or done for a particular reason? I could turn it off via the switch in the boiler room, but I didn't want to do that and then have the boiler kick on if the weather changed.
