I have 3 old radiators with large valves that hiss when the heat comes on. I think I read that these can be repacked? Can anyone tell me what you repack them with and possibly a place I might find that material.
My other issue is that I seem to loose water in the system at a rather quick rate. I don't have an automatic fill and If I don't go down to check the low water cut off kicks in and so we have no heat. I'm assuming this is due to the leaking valves at these 3 radiators. I realize that some water needs to be added and I do flush the system once a week to keep the boiler clean but this seems to be too often.
As you can guess this is my first time dealing with steam heat.
