The old useful numbers were 220 hi limit, 180 low limit and 20 differential. Folks will lower these numbers until the temperature is good enough. The numbers on the control should match fairly closely what the temperature gauge shows, but as the 8124 is mounted in the center of the tankless coil, the temperature will often be lower on the thermometer when the domestic water hot taps are running.

Sometimes, if the circulator is moutned backwards the return cooler water will go in the top and the hot out the bottom making erratic operation.

You can reduce the pressure swings by a larger expansion tank or adding another of the same size on a manifold at the same point.
