I believe a new boiler would be your beat investment. To install a new coil for a few hundred dollars and down the road the boiler leaks would be sending good money after bad. Do yourself a favor and install a new boiler and properly size it. Never size off the old boiler or the amount of radiation in the building. Both of these rules of dumb calculations will oversize the boiler and increase fuel bills and maintenance costs. The second thing is do away with domestic hot water coils altogather. With domestic coils you need to maintain water temperature and this will maintain a higher draft and loos more heat up your chimney. Remember the chimney is the biggest heat thief in your home, stealing heat while the burner is off or on.
Install a new properly sized boiler with an indirect, have them properly piped, cold start the boiler, sit back enjoy the increased comfort and fuel savings.
