I've never seen the price of one, but it looks like an option for older higher mass systems. If you have a tankless coil, it has a temp sensor for the DHW supply pipe. You still have to maintain min boiler temps for a coil. On boiler replacements, I'd still prefer a Tekmar 260 which has a boiler and outdoor sensor and is smart enough to go to full temp for an indirect HWH call and will post purge the boiler heat into the indirect after the indirect temp is met. If you only use 500 gal of oil a year, any of these controls might not be worth it.
